When my company began to do business in Chile, it became necessary for me to get serious about learning Spanish fast. I’d tried various courses and books in the past without getting very far.
I researched all of the computer based teaching programs including all of the well known and more expensive ones. You probably know what I'm talking about.
There are so many to choose from, it's hard to figure out which one is best. It gets really expensive to try them all out - plus it takes a lot of time commitment to give each one an honest try.
That's why I made this website - so that I can share my learning experience with you. Maybe it will save you some time and money.

and like you, I needed to learn to speak Spanish quickly.
In the past, speaking Spanish seemed like it would be helpful, but I put off learning it because of time commitments. I also knew that doing a ton of research on which learning program would be best was going to take a lot of time. Time I just didn't want to spend.
Then, The Inevitable
Started To Happen.
My company started to do business in Chile and wanted me to make regular trips there to supervise the new division.
I had a few months to prepare for the new job responsibilities, get my passport and of course, learn to speak Spanish.
And that was the point when I realized I had to do
something
about it.
I Tried Other Spanish Courses But Was Forced
To Give Them Up.
I tried several Spanish learning packages consisting of discs, phrase books, etc. I'd been using Learn To Speak and was FRAZZLED beyond belief with the DARN grammar. It was enough to bring tears of frustration to a grown man's eyes.
In another listening course, I thought the speaker spoke too quickly and didn't review enough.
Then I tried private Spanish lessons for 4 weeks and while that was helpful, for the amount of time I spent, I didn't learn that much.. I was starting to run out of time - I needed to learn now! |
Eventually, I
found something that worked.
After trying other courses and spending my time and money, I heard about Rocket Spanish. I was a bit leery of buying yet another course, but they offered six free lessons so you can take a 'test drive'. Rocket Spanish is by far the most useful for my needs, far better than other packages, and at a considerably lower price.
I downloaded the course for less than what those four private lessons cost me and was immediately impressed with the high quality and quantity of teaching techniques and materials.
I had never heard of it
before and because of my recent experiences, I was
initially a little doubtful. But after trying the free lessons and seeing that the
cost was minimal compared to everything else I tried, I decided to give it a shot.
I'd seen and heard commercials on TV and the radio for several Spanish learning programs. But running all those commercials cost money and that cost gets passed on to us as customers. Rocket Spanish relies on 'word-of-mouth' - not expensive advertising. That's why you can get such a high quality product for so much less.
I was amazed when I first downloaded the program, how much is actually included: interactive audio lessons with scripts to follow along, a complete grammar book of over 200 pages and audio lessons of the complete book, 10 bonus audio lessons, additional grammar and vocabulary and games and flash cards.
A Friend of Mine Tried the Berliz Courses.
A co-worker friend who bought the Berlitz series is still at square one.
But my Spanish has progressed to the point that I became the translator for our construction team on a recent trip to Santiago. On that trip, I became friends with a Venezuelan man and was able (with a little help) to have a 45 minute conversation about our countries, homes and families. All this is before I have tackled the advanced part of the course. |

Here's why I recommend it.
The reason why I recommend
Rocket Spanish is because I followed their plan carefully and in only
a matter of weeks the results were almost
unbelievable. You're sure to find something which suits your way of learning and the level of Spanish you're at now.
You can decide whether you prefer to SEE first, or HEAR first. You can supplement the audio dialogues and explanations with any or all of the other great parts such as the conversation book, the grammar and vocabulary handbooks and then the audio dialogues all over again....... but without any English this time!
In other words, you simply slot in the bits you need, as many or as few times as you need. You have total flexibility. It's like having a private tutor but with REAL Spanish and REAL people!
The pace and staged repetitions ensure that the language is actually absorbed; it's not just a superficial gloss.
The games are great fun and a different and painless way of consolidating learning.
All in all, Rocket Spanish is an excellent learning instrument, the best one I have yet found for learning Spanish as it is actually spoken.
Based on it, I was able to manage to survive in the streets of Santiago. And that's saying a great deal, since spoken Chilean Spanish is difficult to understand - most Spanish speakers consider it one of the most difficult forms of spoken
Spanish for foreigners.
In
my opinion, this is way more superior and far more
effective than any of the other products I tried.
Obviously everyone is different but it has worked
extremely well for me. It was worth every penny I paid for it and I now think it was very cheap.
